DALLAS – February 23, 2016 – For the second consecutive year, Baylor Emergency Medical Centers teamed up with the Dallas Mavericks to sponsor MAVSFIT, a point-based challenge that encourages youth to make healthy lifestyle choices. This year’s winners were announced during a surprise reveal event Monday.

The MAVSFIT program enlists participants from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas to track their meals and physical activity during a four-week period for an opportunity to earn prizes based on level of participation. The club with the highest overall point total, the Mesquite Branch, was transported on the Mavs Fan Express Bus to American Airlines Arena, where team members received new sporting equipment and a Mavs pep rally. Representing the seven Dallas-area micro-hospitals, Baylor EMC hospital administrator Danielle Everett presented club honorees with rewards alongside the Mavericks mascots and dancers, to recognize their hard work and dedication.

“Making healthy lifestyle choices is a huge accomplishment for each of these kids,” said Everett. “As adults, we all know the health benefits of nutrition and physical activity, but we also know it’s not always enjoyable. Kids are just looking to have fun – programs like MAVSFIT make it easier for them to form healthy habits.”

In addition to the mascots and dancers, challenge participants celebrated with Dallas Mavericks Guard Devin Harris, and later received a surprise visit from Coach Carlisle.

The MAVSFIT program is an extension of the league’s global health and wellness platform, NBA FIT, designed to promote healthy, active lifestyles for children and families. This ongoing initiative complements Baylor EMC’s commitment to continued health in the community at any age.
